It’s near Christmas, and Alicia and her daughter (or son) Tate are homeless and surviving the best way that they can. Alicia’s brother Jeffrey shows up to try to help them, and as they are navigating trying to get out of their situation, an elderly stranger shows up.
The stranger is obviously ill and new to the streets, and Alicia and Tate begin to show him the “ropes” of homelessness. In exchange, the stranger shares interesting stories of how the different Christmas carols came to be: Silent Night, O Holy Night, The Christmas Song, etc. much to the delight of Tate.
Meanwhile, many folks seem to be looking for the old stranger…police detectives, lawyers, and the like. Alicia and Tate refuse to give him up, and the stories continue, culminating in the heartbreaking story of how Robert May wrote the most popular Christmas story and song of all, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” and the happy ending of how that song lifts Alicia and Tate from their plight.
