THE STORY: TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, an accomplished journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch happens to catch Morrie’s appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Mitch is reunited with Morrie, and what starts as a simple visit turns into a weekly pilgrimage and a last class in the meaning of life.

Hosted annually by TNT (Theatre Network of Texas), TEXFest is an opportunity for community theatres throughout the state of Texas to gather for performances, workshops, panel discussions, and fellowship to share ideas, production successes and challenges, and encouragement among peers to continue the thriving and growth of the art of community theatre in our state. This year, TEXFest will be held in Victoria, TX, at the Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts from March 12 to 16. Baytown Little Theater’s performance of Tuesdays with Morrie will be among seven productions staged throughout the festival, vying for the opportunity to represent AACT (American Association of Community Theatre) Region VI (consisting of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Arkansas) in April at the South West Theatre Conference in Hobbs, NM. All TEXFest performances will be adjudicated by AACT-trained theatre professionals from across the United States, and two of the seven productions will be selected to advance to AACT Region VI. Since 2020, BLT has been honored three times with TEXFest Best Production recognition (The Sweet Delilah Swim Club, District Merchants, and The Guys) and advanced to the regional festival.
