SUMMARY:Mustang Martha- The Screenplay Experience
DESCRIPTION:MUSTANG MARTHA: The Screenplay Experience — A Night of Baytown Storytelling! \nDo you remember the legendary “Purple Planter” that turned heads in 1994? That unforgettable hot-pink Mustang filled with flowers\, sitting proudly in front of Baytown Motors (now Frank’s Collision) started as a quirky promo for a local auto body shop but quickly became a symbol of artistic rebellion when the City cited it as a violation of the Junk Car Ordinance. But Martha Barnett—one of the only female body shop owners at the time—stood her ground and fought back. \nNow\, her incredible story is being brought to life in MUSTANG MARTHA\, a fictionalized film inspired by true events that happened right here in Baytown. And we want YOU to be part of it! \n  \nJoin us for Mustang Martha: The Screenplay Experience\, a one-night-only staged reading of the award-winning screenplay\, performed in partnership with Baytown Little Theater and featuring local actors from the BLT community. This is your chance to hear the story straight from the page\, experience the laughs\, heart\, and hometown pride—and give your feedback directly to the filmmakers! \nDate: Saturday\, June 28th \n\nVIP Pre-Event @ 5:30 PM ($50): As a thank you for helping bring this film to life\, mingle over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres\, meet Writer/Director Jenny Waldo and Producer Joy Willard and hear how this script came to be and plans for production!\n– Silent Auction: Support the film and take home something special! Mustang Martha is fiscally sponsored by the non-profit From the Heart Productions\, making your donations tax-deductible!\nLive Reading @ 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM ($25): Watch the script come alive on stage\, followed by a community talkback session.\nUpgrade: Want to upgrade your previously brought staged reading ticket to add VIP access? SUMMARY:Mustang Martha Auditions for Script Reading
DESCRIPTION:Do you remember the “Purple Planter” over at Baytown Motors in 1994? It was a Mustang painted hot-pink/purple and planted with flowers all over to help promote the auto body shop that’s now Frank’s Collision on Main St. Only after people complained\, the city said it was a violation of the Junk Car Ordinance. Martha Barnett\, who owned Baytown Motors at the time and was one of the only female auto body shop owners in the country\, fought to keep the Mustang. And now\, with the blessing of Martha and others involved\, we’re making a movie about it! \nMUSTANG MARTHA is a fictionalized “inspired by true events” type film\, and we are partnering with Jenny Waldo to perform a staged reading of the script here at Baytown Little Theater on Saturday\, June 28th at 7pm. She is excited to connect with our historic theater and our members by casting all roles from our Baytown Little Theater community for this event. While we cannot guarantee that role in the eventual movie\, she wants to showcase the local talent as we bring awareness to this project. If you’re available\, please send us your videotaped audition. \nWe are telling a Baytown story\, and we want Baytown involved. Last November\, we hosted a community awareness event at the Baytown Historical Museum when it was still called Martha’s Mustang. You can read more about it in the Baytown Sun article: https://baytownsun.com/local/martha-s-mustang-filmmaker-seeks-community-input-on-project/article_a8c7c448-a1f9-11ef-a275-1f627e72340e.html. Jenny and her team are Houston-based filmmakers with over 25 years of experience and look forward to working with you to highlight Baytown and this feel-good\, fun story. \nBelow is the scene to read for the recorded audition. Female actors read for Martha. Male actors read for Bobby. She does have a couple of male kid roles\, but they can simply read for Bobby too. \nPlease record your audition and email me a private link or WeTransfer (or other transfer platform) to purpleplanterproductions@gmail.com. \nAlso below are the Character Breakdowns that we are casting. There are about 20 good speaking roles and over 30 one-scene/one-liners! \nYou WILL NOT NEED to be off-book for the audition or for the staged reading. You will be walking around with the script in hand for simple entrances and exits. \nWe will have a rehearsal sometime in the week or two before the 28th. \nWe will be complying with the Baytown Little Theater protocol\, and all roles are volunteer-based. \nMore information as we move closer to the event. \nPLEASE SEND YOUR AUDITIONS to purpleplanterproductions@gmail.com. You can also email any questions you have. \nwww.jennywaldo.com \nFacebook and Instagram: MustangMarthaMovie \nCharacter Breakdowns \nAudition Side
