For as long as she has been able to read, the sight of a written play has made Janine Corman’s heart race a little faster. As a child, that excitement meant dreaming of playing the biggest female role in the script. Now, after more than forty years in theater, her passion comes from discovering how a theater community can bring its own voice to the written word.

Janine believes playwrights are unique among writers because they entrust their work to an entire world of collaborators. Directors, designers, technicians, and actors all become interpreters of the story, working together to create something both faithful to the playwright’s vision and deeply personal to the community bringing it to life. That collaborative spirit is what continues to inspire her most about theater.

On a personal note, Janine met the love of her life, Michael Corman, through community theater while appearing in South Pacific, where she played Nellie Forbush opposite her future husband as Emile De Becque.  Mike and Janine have collaborated on many productions since then, and are so grateful to Baytown Little Theater for welcoming them in when they moved down here in 2022. Janine looks forward to continuing this tradition of welcoming, as a new member of the BLT Board and a Director for the 2026-2027 season.
