Lyle Tate

Board Member

Lyle Tate has worked as a community theatre actor and director since 1999 when he joined Starkville Community Theatre in Starkville, MS. Lyle and his partner, Lee, moved to Houston, TX, in 2013 and joined Baytown Little Theater in 2019 when Lyle auditioned for Joseph…Dreamcoat. An American Association of Community Theatre (AACT)-trained adjudicator and festival commissioner, Lyle serves on the AACT Board of Directors and travels across the U.S. annually to coordinate state- and regional-level community theatre festivals. He works for the University of Houston College of Optometry as Director of Student Services and is a Ph.D. candidate via The Chicago School in organizational leadership, studying the impact of positive, authentic leadership on affective commitment as it applies to community theatre volunteers throughout the state of Texas. There is no green food Lyle doesn't like; he can absolutely rule a 1980s pop music trivia competition; and he once held Morgan Freeman's 2004 Academy Award for Million Dollar Baby.
