Charlie Cowell   –   Male, any age, non-singing, non-dancing. An anvil salesman, Harold Hill’s sworn enemy

Professor Harold Hill  – Male, 25 plus, baritone/tenor, heavy singing, heavy dancing. The ultimate travelling salesman and con man                       

Mayor George Shinn – Male, 40 plus, non-singing, non-dancing. The bombastic Mayor of River City and owner of the local billiard parlor

Marcellus Washburn – Male, 25 plus, heavy singing, heavy dancing. Harold’s best friend and accomplice

Marian Paroo – Female, 18 plus, soprano, heavy singing, dances. The local librarian, piano teacher, and intellectual

Mrs. Paroo – Female, 40 plus, some singing, must have an Irish brogue. Marian and Winthrop’s mother

Amaryllis  – Female, 8 – 12 years, singing and some dance. Would help if some knowledge of piano (will teach if not)

Winthrop Paroo – Male, 8-12 years, singing and some dance. Marian’s little brother, speaks with a decided lisp

Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn – Female, 40 plus, alto, singing, some dance. Mayor Shinn’s wife and leading River City socialite

Constable Locke – Male, any age, non-singing, non-dancing

Tommy Djilas – Male, 15-25 years, tenor some singing, heavy dance. River City’s juvenile delinquent and Zaneeta’s boyfriend

Gracie Shinn – Female, 7-10 years, non-singing, some dance. The Shinn’s youngest daughter

THE QUARTET

The Barbershop Quartet sings heavily.  They are the School Board of River City, who never agreed on anything until Harold got them to sing together.  Because of the unique musical demands of this group, it has been pre-cast:
